Smashbox Cosmetics approached Imprint Projects with an opportunity to reposition the brand and connect with Gen Z. We developed and launched Smashbox Open Studios, an artist residency program with a mission to challenge beauty ideals.
The brand platform invites emerging visual artists to participate in a month-long residency, and includes a grant to develop an original artwork, access to Smashbox studio space, tools, and resources, and mentorship from the brand’s in-house team of veteran make-up artists, photographers, and creatives.
Artists debuted their work in March 2022 in a group show at the storied Smashbox Studios in Culver City, which brought together press, industry experts, and creative communities from across LA. We developed a suite of digital content for artist and brand channels, and a toolkit for ongoing residencies into the future.
