Imprint Projects worked with Levi’s Skateboarding to build skateparks and empower the Oglala Lakota youth of the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota. It was a true collaboration headed by The Stronghold Society with the Vitalogy Foundation and Wounded Knee Skateboards.
An award-winning documentary tells a story of dire circumstance and hope for the reservation youth, now called the “generation of the skatepark.” To celebrate the release of the film, screenings were held around the USA including the Indigenous Film and Arts Festival. The film was directed by Greg Hunt, and features an original score by David Pajo and an original track by Cat Power.
With the relentless efforts from everyone involved, the Pine Ridge reservation now has a brand new skatepark ... Skateboarding is in good hands because of projects like this and we were thankful to be a part of it.
When the Levi’s team visited the reservation, they saw a community transformed. They found a generation inspired – a group of people championing each other through their collective actions.
