Imprint Projects commissioned onformative, a Berlin-based visual coding studio, to create a new artwork for Dolby Gallery. Collide explores the relationship between dance, sound, and color by translating motion data collected from multiple dance techniques into a synaesthetic re-imagination of movement and the creative process. The supporting exhibition, Kinaesthetic, revealed their technical and artistic process, from initial data points to finished product.
To celebrate the installation, San Francisco dance collective CounterPulse presented the first-ever live performance at Dolby Gallery, performed by little seismic dance company.
Visualizing this tangible experience provides an introspective lens through which viewers can relate to the installation from a corporal perspective.
