Beck Hansen’s Song Reader – an album released only as sheet music by McSweeney’s – was brought to life at the Sonos Studio. Structures mirrored the design of the book at visitor-encompassing size, exhibiting artwork by Marcel Dzama and Leanne Shapton among others, each with Sonos players streaming selected fan versions of Song Reader songs. A recording booth allowed guests to record their own versions and upload them to songreader.net – Beck’s online home for the project. A new documentary about John Fahey debuted during the exhibition’s run.
