The Algo-Rhythms exhibition brought together artists and musicians who have redefined how software is used as a medium. The installations were accompanied by public programs featuring developers, creative coders and musicians showing how software connects us with the music we love. Programming included an opening with Thundercat, screening of “Finding Fela”, all night ambient sessions, an audio/visual workshop with Daedelus and UCLA’s Department of Design Media Arts, and an album release concert with Little Dragon.
Installation artists included Dev Harlan, Emilio Gomariz, Floating Point Collective, Hawking Leary, Larry Cuba, LIA, Refik Anadol & Yoshihide Sodeoka.
Software is only a tool. To create something that makes you cry, bang your head, and move your soul you’ll always need an old-fashioned human brain.
